What’s actually available

BSEB Chairman Tyagarajan S.M. announced that Class 10 (Matric) and Class 12 (Intermediate) marksheets and certificates for 2026 are now issued on DigiLocker. He also said documents from examinations conducted earlier in 2026 will be added soon — so if yours isn’t there yet, it’s likely on the way.

This move helps students keep digital records, avoids problems from lost, damaged or fake physical documents, and enables faster verification for higher education admissions, scholarships, jobs and other services.— based on the BSEB Chairman’s announcement, 29 September 2026

Is it as valid as the paper copy?

💡 Yes. Documents issued through DigiLocker are treated as equivalent to the original under the Information Technology Act, 2000, since they come directly from the board itself. That said, always check the specific requirement of the college, employer or agency you’re submitting it to — some may still ask for the physical copy alongside it.

How to download your marksheet

Step-by-step on the DigiLocker app or website

Works the same way on digilocker.gov.in or the DigiLocker mobile app.

  1. Go to digilocker.gov.in, or open the DigiLocker app (Play Store / App Store).
  2. Sign up or log in using your Aadhaar-linked mobile number and OTP. (New here? Sign-up takes under a minute.)
  3. Go to “Education and Learning” or the “Search Documents” section.
  4. Search for and select “Bihar School Examination Board.”
  5. Choose Class 10 or Class 12 Marksheet/Certificate.
  6. Enter your Roll Code, Roll Number and select exam year 2026.
  7. Submit — your document appears and is saved to your DigiLocker “Issued Documents.”
⚠️ If your document doesn’t show up yet, it may be one of the “earlier-2026 exam” batches still being uploaded. Check back in a few days rather than assuming an error on your end.

Why this actually matters

  • No more panic over a lost original — a legally valid copy lives permanently in your DigiLocker account.
  • Faster admissions and job verification — colleges, scholarship portals and employers can verify instantly instead of waiting for physical attestation.
  • Protection against fake certificates — since it’s issued directly by the board, there’s no scope for tampering.
  • Free and available anytime — no visiting the school or BSEB office for a duplicate.

What to do right now

  • Download it today, even if you don’t need it immediately — it takes a few minutes and saves a scramble later.
  • Also save a PDF copy on your phone or email as backup, in case you lose access to your DigiLocker account.
  • Still keep your original physical marksheet safe — some processes may still ask for it alongside the digital copy.

Does this apply to marksheets from before 2026?

Not yet, based on the current announcement. The Chairman said earlier-2026 exam documents will be added soon; there’s no mention yet of years before 2026.

Should I still keep my physical marksheet?
