The wait is over: NEET PG 2026 results were declared on 24 September 2026, and the qualifying cut-off is 262 out of 720 for General/EWS candidates. But here’s the part that trips up thousands of MBBS graduates every year — qualifying is not the same as getting a seat. Below is what’s officially out, what comes next, and the rules NBEMS has laid down that you need to know before counselling begins.

How to check your result
NBEMS lists three official websites. Use only these:
- nbe.edu.in, natboard.edu.in or cdn3.digialm.com — open the NEET PG 2026 result link on the homepage.
- Sign in with your application number and date of birth (or password).
- Your score, rank and qualifying status appear on screen — save the PDF.
The qualifying cut-off, category by category
NBEMS sets the cut-off as a percentile, then converts it into marks out of 720. Here is where the line falls this year:

The exam in numbers
Held on 30 August 2026 in a single shift (9 am–12:30 pm), computer-based. A re-exam on 5 September was held for candidates at the Jaipur (Sitapura) centres hit by technical glitches — about 2,400 candidates.
The big misunderstanding: qualifying ≠ admission
Think of it in two stages. Stage 1 — qualification: score at or above your category’s cut-off, and you’re in the pool for MD, MS, PG Diploma, DNB and DrNB seats. Stage 2 — allotment: counselling ranks everyone in that pool and allots seats by merit, category and preference. Stage 1 is a gate; Stage 2 is the competition. For state-quota seats, the merit list is prepared by the respective state or UT authority under its own criteria and reservation policy.
Where your NEET PG score counts — and where it doesn’t
- All India 50% quota seats
- State quota seats in all states and UTs
- All private medical colleges, institutions and deemed universities
- Armed Forces Medical Services institutions
- AIIMS, New Delhi and the other AIIMS
- PGIMER, Chandigarh
- JIPMER, Puducherry
- NIMHANS, Bengaluru
- Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute (SCTIMST), Thiruvananthapuram
Those institutes admit through their own route rather than NEET PG.
Rules that catch candidates out
- No re-evaluation, re-checking or re-totalling. NBEMS’ information bulletin gives no scope to challenge your marks after the result.
- Answer keys and response sheets — for the first time. From 1 October you’ll be able to see each question ID, the correct answer key ID, your marked response ID and the score awarded, through your applicant login.
- NBEMS says no question was technically incorrect — every question and key was reviewed by subject faculty after the exam.
- The scorecard is valid for the 2026-27 admission session only. You can’t carry the score forward, and requests for scorecards by email after the download window closes will be rejected.
- Tie-breaks use your MBBS/FMGE aggregate marks. These are verified against your original documents at admission — and wrong information used to break a tie can cancel your candidature.

What to do right now
- Check your result and rank on the official portal today — and only on the official sites listed above.
- Download your scorecard on 1 October and save several copies — the window is only six months, and late requests won’t be entertained.
- Prepare your documents now — MBBS marksheets, internship completion, registration certificate, category and PwBD certificates, ID proof.
- Start a preference list of branches and colleges — counselling rewards candidates who have thought about choices before the portal opens.
- Watch the MCC website for the counselling schedule, and ignore unofficial “expected dates.”

Does clearing the cut-off guarantee a seat?
No. It only makes you eligible for counselling. Seat allotment depends on your rank, category, the available seat matrix and the choices you fill.
Can I use my NEET PG score for AIIMS or PGIMER?
No. The score is not used for AIIMS, PGIMER, JIPMER, NIMHANS or SCTIMST. It counts for All India 50% quota seats, state-quota seats, private and deemed medical colleges, and Armed Forces Medical Services institutions.
When will NEET PG counselling start?
The MCC has not yet announced the schedule. Follow the official MCC website for registration and round dates, and treat any specific dates on other sites as unconfirmed until MCC publishes them.
