PSU jobs through GATE 2027 for CSE: the first notices are already out. We went through ten published since mid-August 2026 — and for a Computer Science student the picture is narrower than the headlines suggest: only four of the ten name CS, and only one has said how many CS posts it has. A fifth, NPCIL, is reported to have named CS in an advance notice, but we have not seen that notice ourselves.

Know the scale of the competition
Only Grid-India has published a CS vacancy count, so it is the one place we can put numbers side by side. Last year, 40,661 candidates qualified in the CS paper (official GATE 2026 report). That is a rough guide only: most qualifiers won’t apply, and many won’t meet a PSU’s other criteria. But it shows why a score just above the qualifying mark is not enough.

Other organisations that have used GATE scores
Beyond the PSUs above, several government bodies have hired through GATE in past cycles. Whether CS is included changes year to year, so treat this as a watch-list, not a promise.

What a CS candidate should do now
- Check that your GATE 2027 form is in. The registration windows are closed. The application-correction window runs to 31 October 2026. The exam is on 6–7, 13–14 and 20–21 February 2027, with results on 19 March 2027, all subject to change.
- Treat the GATE score as the main filter. Most of these PSUs shortlist on it, so aim well above the qualifying mark. In GATE 2026 the General qualifying mark for CS was 30 out of 100, but that only makes you eligible; PSUs shortlist from the top of the score list.
- Read the minimum marks and age limits in each detailed advertisement. Each PSU sets its own, and they differ.
- Keep your papers ready: degree marksheets, category certificate if any, photo and signature in the right format.
- Prepare for the interview and group discussion. Core CS (operating systems, databases, networks, algorithms), your final-year project, and why you want a PSU.
- Watch the careers pages of NTPC, POWERGRID, Grid-India and NPCIL. Applications for most of these are expected after the GATE 2027 result.

Quick answers
Which PSUs have invited Computer Science candidates through GATE 2027 so far?
Of the ten notices we reviewed, four list CS: NTPC Limited, NTPC Mining, POWERGRID and Grid-India. NSPCL, THDC India, GAIL and Coal India do not, and DRDO and Delhi Transco have not named their disciplines yet. NPCIL is also reported to list CS, pending its detailed advertisement.
How many CS posts are there?
Only Grid-India has said: 15 Executive Trainee posts in Computer Science, out of 52. NTPC, NTPC Mining, POWERGRID and NPCIL have not published CS vacancy numbers yet.
Do I need to take GATE 2027, or does an old score work?
The NTPC-group notices say earlier GATE marks will not be accepted, so a fresh GATE 2027 score is needed for them. Check the notice of each PSU you want.
When will applications open?
Most PSUs say a detailed advertisement will follow after GATE 2027. The GATE 2027 result is due on 19 March 2027, so expect most application windows after that, subject to each PSU’s announcement.
