GATE 2027 Application Form: Last Date, Fees & How to Apply Online

Who can apply?

There’s no upper age limit and no cap on attempts — which surprises many first-timers. You’re eligible if:

  • You’re in the 3rd year or beyond of any recognised UG program (Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Arts or Humanities), or
  • You’ve already completed a government-approved degree in any of the above.
⚠️ New this year — DigiLocker is mandatory. A verified DigiLocker account is now required for all Indian nationals. Set it up before you start the form — doing it mid-registration is where most people get stuck.

Documents to keep ready

  • Photograph — 3.5 × 4.5 cm, 200×260 to 530×690 px, taken after 1 Aug 2026, 60–70% face coverage.
  • Signature — black/dark-blue ink, 250×80 to 580×180 px.
  • Photo ID — Aadhaar (preferred), Passport, PAN, Voter ID, or Driving Licence.
  • Category / PwD / Dyslexia certificate (PDF) — only if applicable.
💡 Name must match your ID exactly. A mismatch is the #1 reason candidates get stopped at the exam centre. Skip prefixes like Mr., Dr., or Er. — the system rejects them, and your scorecard carries whatever you type.

💳 Application fee

CategoryWithout late feeWith late fee
Female / SC / ST / PwD₹1,000₹1,500
All others (incl. foreign nationals)₹2,000₹2,500

Applying for two papers roughly doubles the cost — the fee is charged per paper.

How to fill the form — step by step

Register on GOAPS

Create your account with name, email, mobile, country and a password. Verify the OTP (email or phone) and you’ll get a unique enrolment ID.

Fill the application

Personal & academic details, addresses, paper selection (can’t be changed later), three exam-city preferences (first two from the same zone), and photo-ID details.

Upload documents

Photograph, signature and any applicable certificates — in the exact size/format specified.

Preview, pay & submit

Check every field, pay online (UPI / card / net-banking / wallet), and submit. Registration is complete only once payment succeeds.

Choosing a second paper

You can sit for two papers in one session, but only in permitted combinations. For example, CS pairs with DA, EC, GE, MA, PH or ST; ME pairs with AE, DA, IN, NM, PI or XE. Check the official combination list for your primary subject before committing — an invalid pair gets flagged at form-filling.

📝 Made a mistake? The correction window opens 14 October 2026. Address / college / degree edits are usually free; changes to name, DOB, city, paper, category or gender attract a fee (≈ ₹500 per change).

Frequently asked questions

Can I use one email for multiple GATE forms?

No — each email ID works for only one GATE 2027 application.

Do OBC (non-creamy-layer) candidates upload a category certificate?

No. Certificate upload for the fee concession applies to SC/ST/PwD candidates (and all women, who also get the lower fee).

Is there an age limit?

No — GATE has no upper age limit.

Can I change my paper after submitting?

No. Paper selection locks on submission — choose carefully.
